Tata Gold Medal (Metallurgist) Award for Mr. A. D. Baijal
Mr. A. D. Baijal, Director of Tata Sponge Iron Limited since 1999, received the prestigious Tata Gold Medal award for the year 2005 for his outstanding contribution in the field of metallurgical education, research and industry.
The award was presented to him at the National Metallurgist's Day celebrations in Chennai on November 14, 2005 for his outstanding contribution in the field of metallurgical education, research and industry.
Mr. Baijal, joined Tata Steel in 1969 as a graduate engineer and worked in various capacities in the company's R&D, steel making, project engineering and raw materials division, before attaining his present position as Vice President (Raw Materials) in Tata Steel.
Mr. Baijal is also a past recipient of National Metallurgist Award and presently is the President of National Committee on Mining formed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and a Director on the Board of the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation.
