Best ever annual performance
Tata Sponge has staged yet another fine performance at the close of the year ending 31st March, 2002 – both operational & financial. A production and despatch of 2,36,432 and 2,34,489 MT respectively mark the highest figures ever achieved by the company since inception.
Buoyed by the good market for sponge iron, the financial figures also touched new heights, with the Sales recording Rs.165 crore which was 16% higher compared to the previous year. The company achieved a Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs. 26.5 crore – 150% higher than the previous year and a Profit After Tax (PAT) of over Rs. 18.4 crore which was higher by 187% for the same period in the previous year.
