Earth Care Award 2008 for Tata Sponge
Tata sponge was chosen for yet another prestigious accolade when it was selected for the first Earth Care Award for its relentless pursuits towards greenhouse gas mitigation and combating climate change. The prestigious national level award was conferred first time by JSW and Times of India with technical support from The Energy Research Institute (TERI) and Centre of Environment Education (CEE). In a formal ceremony organized at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi on Earth Day, 22nd April 2008, Mr. Ajay Sahay, Resident Executive, Tata Steel, received the award on behalf of Tata Sponge. It comes as a deserving recognition to the Company’s various initiatives towards protection of Earth's climate and environment conservation with focus on waste heat recovery based power plants. The plants utilize the waste heat for generation of power and thereby contributing to the reduction of GHG emission.
