Record Production in 2002-03
During the year 2002-03, Tata Sponge Iron has recorded an acceptable production of 2,36,500 tonnes which is close to 99% of its capacity utilisation and is 8,000 tonnes more than the previous year. The acceptability of production was 99.5% with a product quality of over 89%.
Besides production, the company also registered improvements
in various other operational factors viz. plant and kiln
availability, production per day, total operating days,
etc. Tata Sponge has been able to restrict the input cost by reducing the consumption of all its inputs during the year. Besides, the plant breakdowns were limited to only approximately 100 hours during this period, which is certainly an appreciable achievement.
