Tata Sponge aspires to become a benchmark in coal based sponge iron operation by adopting best practices, innovating, exploring new opportunities for investment in its value chain and in the process, contribute to community development and nation building.

VISION
Tata Sponge shall endeavour to be a sustainable and learning organisation for setting a benchmark in creating value in the sponge iron business, so as to meet the aspirations of its stakeholders. It shall do so through pursuit of operational excellence and by adopting opportunities of new investments in its value chain.

While doing so, Tata Sponge shall continue to remain a responsible corporate citizen.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Tata Sponge Iron Limited is committed to sustainable and continual improvement in its activities pertaining to the handling of raw materials, production & marketing of sponge iron and power; so as to achieve ever improving legal, environmental and all other compliance standards and provide clean environment to its employees and the society.

To this end, it will;
  • Identify the impact of its activities upon the environment.
  • Prepare an annual environmental improvement plan and implement.
  • Communicate the policy, plan and performance to persons working for or on behalf of the organization and also make it available to public as and what is applicable.

QUALITY POLICY
Tata Sponge Iron Limited is committed to continual improvement and innovation in its operations for the quality production and marketing of sponge iron and power.

To this end, the company shall strive to set and achieve its quality objectives through adoption of quality system, annual business plans, upgradation of knowledge and maintenance of a high level of employee engagement.

It shall adopt the TPM practices for achieving operational excellence through zero failure, zero defects and zero losses

SAFETY & HEALTH POLICY

The Tata Sponge is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment and achieving an injury and illness free work place. Economic considerations will not have priority over implementation of safety and health protection measures. While safety is everyone’s prime responsibility, senior leaders are expected to demonstrate visible commitment through their behaviour. To meet our commitment, we will;

  • Recognise safety and health as an integral part of our operations; consider Safety and Health in every decision we make and in every activity we perform.

  • Comply and endeavour to exceed applicable regulatory safety and health requirements and set the highest standards.

  • Impart appropriate training and develop skills by engaging employees to help them work safely.

  • Assess risks and provide controls for safety and health hazards in our operations and activities and use audits to check compliance.

  • Promptly report incidents, investigate for root causes and ensure lessons learnt are shared and deployed across the Group companies.

  • Influence our business partners in enhancing their Safety and Health standards.

  • Set Safety and Health metrics as indicators of excellence, monitor progress and continually improve performance.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY
Tata Sponge Iron Limited believes in social equity.

The company adheres to the principle of equal opportunity. However, all things being equal, preference shall be given to the beneficiaries from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, in recruitment and entrepreneurship.

The company is also committed to conduct or support initiatives for the socially and economically disadvantaged sections in the country at large, and scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities in particular, for their inclusive growth.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS POLICY
Tata Sponge Iron Limited believes that loyalty and commitment of its employees depend upon the quality of life they are offered at work and at home.

We recognize that indiscriminate use of alcohol and drugs is injurious to the well- being of individuals, their families and the community as a whole. We acknowledge that the misuse of these psychoactive substances is a major health and safety hazard. Tata Sponge Iron Limited is therefore committed to creating an alcohol and drug free environment of all employees. This would be achieved through;

• Raising awareness through the dissemination of information, education and training and by promoting healthy life styles among our employees and their families.
• Motivating those employees who have an alcohol / drug problem to seek assistance while maintaining confidentiality about such cases.

PREVENTION OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT (POSH) POLICY

Tata Sponge is committed to provide and promote a healthy working environment that enables employees to work without fear of prejudice, gender bias, sexual harassment and all forms of intimidation or exploitation at workplace. The Company believes that all stakeholders, irrespective of their gender, have the right to be treated with dignity.

In continuation with our endeavor towards improved gender diversity and inclusion along with creating a safe, fair and just workplace, we have put together this policy called Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at workplace.

In accordance with this policy, an Internal Committee (IC) and guidelines have been formed to address the issue of sexual harassment of women at work place. All women employees (permanent, temporary, contract) as well as trainees, women visiting our office premises or women service providers are covered under this policy.

If someone has crossed the line, then refer to the guidelines on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work place and report to the Internal Committee

  • be a benchmark in the coal based sponge iron industry on the carbon footprint of its operations

  • engage actively in climate change advocacy by being knowledgeable and responsive

  • incorporate ‘green’ perspective in all its key processes
