Operation Halla Bol!
Operation Halla Bol is a campaign on ‘War on Waste’ driven
thro’ an age old Japanese concept called 5S. The objective
to adopt Halla Bol was primarily to reduce the waste
generation and thereby further improve the housekeeping in &
around the plant. The mode of accomplishment is through
fostering a disposition among all employees to discourage
generation of waste by controlling at the very source and
develop an appropriate waste disposal system to recycle the
unavoidable waste, separate the saleable waste and dispose
the balance methodically. Since the company is practicing
TPM initiatives, Operation Halla Bol will facilitate
institutionalizing the Autonomous Maintenance.
Keeping the above in mind, ‘Operation Halla Bol’ was
inaugurated by our Managing Director by dividing the entire
plant & township into 10 different zones and selecting leaders
for carrying out the operation. The movement is being
centrally coordinated by Mr J P Mishra, our Head (Operational
Excellence).
The movement has experienced a huge positive response from the
employees through their self involvement in the cleanliness
drives. Enthusiastic employees were seen attending awareness
programmes being conducted by the Zonal leaders in large
numbers, offering their suggestions for further improvement
and taking ownership of their respective zones. Within a very
short span, polythene bags have completely disappeared from
all the zonal areas. The control is being exercised at the
source itself. By segregating disposable waste systematically
and making the same available for sale & scrap, a total saving
of over Rs.5 lakh has so far been achieved, besides a clean
ambiance and safe workplace.
