One of the recent focus areas under Tata Sponge’s social welfare is to educate the youth in its vicinity, in a productive manner which would not only make them skillful but also secure gainful employment. |
Job oriented training programmes for local youth |
The company has joined hands with Tata Business Support Services (TBSS), Jamshedpur, to impart job-oriented training on management of BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), as call centre operators. The first step in this direction was made during 27-29th May to shortlist the first batch of candidates, with the help of TBSS officials, Jamshedpur. The eligibility criteria required the candidates to have a minimum qualification of +2, with basic knowledge of computer operation and English.
The first batch saw strength of 22 candidates, who were given regular training for over a month on the required skills of becoming a Call Centre Operator. The training included a comprehensive classroom teaching cum individual & team exercises on spoken English, besides honing the skill of familiarization with computer operation, in an objective manner. |

Of the 22 candidates, 19 have been shortlisted for the 2nd round of training at Jamshedpur where they will undergo specialized training on handling special processes. Upon successful completion of the same, these candidates will be considered for suitable employment by TBSS. It is heartening to note that of the 19 successful candidates, 14 are girls. 7 of these trainees belong to the SC/ST community.The selected candidates will be reporting at TBSS on the 4th August and their process training starts from the 5th August. |

With the first batch of trainees now graduated to the process level, they have taken their first step towards shaping a secured career for them. This has encouraged many others from the vicinity, as more than 80 applications are now pending with the Training Cell, for consideration to its second batch. |
