Tata sponge was chosen for yet another prestigious accolade when it was selected for the first Earth Care Award for its relentless pursuits towards greenhouse gas mitigation and combating climate change.

The prestigious national level award was conferred first time by JSW and Times of India with technical support from The Energy Research Institute (TERI) and Centre of Environment Education (CEE).

In a formal ceremony organised at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi on Earth Day, 22nd April 2008, Mr. Ajay Sahay, Resident Executive, Tata Steel, received the award on behalf of Tata Sponge.
