 Tata Sponge bags State Safety Award

The unwavering commitment exhibited by Tata Sponge in maintaining exemplary safety standards in its operations came up for recognition by the Directorate of Factories & Boilers, Orissa in the form of a State Safety Award, when the company was adjudged Winner in the category “Lowest Weighted Frequency Rate of Accident” for maintaining a zero accident record. As per the rigid strictures, the award requires the companies to not only
maintain & sustain higher safety standards, but also excel in the areas of health & environment.
The award was received by Mr.Suresh Thawani, Managing Director and Mr.B.P. Tripathy, Asst.Divl.Manager (Safety) from Mr. P Singhdeo, Hon’ble Minister Labour & Employment, Govt. of Orissa, in a formal function held at Bhubaneswar on 6th July 2009.
Incidentally, Tata Sponge is arguably the only sponge iron company in India to be selected for this prestigious award Six times in the past. Besides, the company has also received 8 more such safety awards over the years under various categories, from the Government of India & Orissa. |
